Alice in Slotland
Slot Tournament Mailer
Slot Tournament Mailer
The Events team at Spirit Mountain Casino had a new idea for a slot tournament they would be staging. It would be themed after the classic “Alice in Wonderland” book, but with an emphasis on the “Topsy Turvy” elements of the story, which they wanted me to demonstrate by building a mailer that could resemble a pack of cards when the finished piece was folded together, and with text panels on the mailer featured both sideways and upside down.
I was able to meet their requests by developing a specific layout for the mailer: A long, two-sided piece with twelve different panels that could be folded down to the size of just one of those panels. This gave the piece a final mailing size of 3.35″x4.5,” which were almost exactly the dimensions of a single playing card. And since this event was centered around Alice and her unusual friends, I developed a unique set of playing card faces that would feature illustrations depicting the various denizens of Wonderland — but through a lens inspired by the line art of the classic children’s book artist Edward Gorey.
This piece was developed entirely by myself with the layout and illustrations rendered in Adobe Illustrator and the copy written by me as well.
